10 Years of NHAZCA

To celebrate this important milestone, NHAZCA, in collaboration with the Research Centre for Geological Risk CERI, organizes the event Natural HAzards Control and Assessment: New Challenges for Land and Infrastructures Monitoring.

This free access international event will take place on 13 – 14 November 2019 at “Aula Magna” Rectorate of Sapienza University of Rome.

The event aims to gather all the personalities from the Academic, Professional and Institutional worlds engaged in the management and safety control of land and infrastructures.

The new challenges for land and infrastructure monitoring will be addressed through Panel Discussions focused on the following main topics: prevention for territory and infrastructure safety, emergency management, the role of maintenance strategy for land and infrastructure management, design and construction of strategic structures in fragile areas.

The event will be accompanied by one day dedicated to the technological innovation in the area of geotechnical and structural monitoring, when new-trends and cutting-edge monitoring solutions will be presented, aiming to be a meeting point to exchange ideas.




The event will be held at “Aula Magna” - Rectorate in the Campus of Sapienza University of Rome.

How to reach Rome:


From "Leonardo da Vinci" - Fiumicino Airport
Fiumicino Airport and the Rome City Center are connected by two types of train services:
1) "Leonardo Express", a non-stop service to/from Rome Termini railway station, leaving every 15 or 30 minutes, with a journey time of 32 minutes.
2) Regional FL1 trains to/from other stations in Rome leaving every 15 minutes on weekdays, and every 30 minutes on weekends and holidays, with a journey time of 50 minutes.

From “Giovan Battista Pastine” – Ciampino Airport

This airport is located about 20 km away from the city center. You can take a taxi or a shuttle bus services to Termini Station


Coming from A1 highway, take the Roma EST exit. After the tollbooth, follow the signs for the city center following the street Via Tiburtina.


From Termini Station: The campus of Sapienza University of Rome is distant about 10 minutes by walking.

From Tiburtina Station: get the Metro B line to "Castro Pretorio" or “Policlinico” station. Then you can reach the venue in 10 minutes walking.


To reach the Aula Magna of Sapienza Campus, you can enter from the main entrance of the Campus (Piazzale Aldo Moro, 5 - 00185 Rome) and walk straight for about 150 m till the Rectorate building.
